About
DOJA Exclusive
Doja Exclusive is a leading premium cannabis brand in California that has established itself as the most recognisable premium cannabis brand in the state. Known for their high-quality products and distinctive branding, DOJA has built a loyal customer base that values authenticity and premium experiences. However, their success has made them a prime target for counterfeiters seeking to capitalize on their reputation. The stakes are particularly high in the cannabis industry, where counterfeit products can pose serious health risks to consumers due to unknown ingredients, contamination, or improper processing. Beyond health concerns, counterfeit products significantly damage brand reputation and consumer trust, making robust authentication measures essential for premium cannabis brands like DOJA.
The Challenge
DOJA's premium status and recognizable branding made it an attractive target for sophisticated counterfeiting operations. The brand faced several critical security challenges that threatened both consumer safety and business integrity:
- Traditional anti-counterfeiting methods prove insufficient
- Counterfeit products appearing in unauthorized international markets
- Consumer safety and brand reputation at risk
- Difficulty in tracking and tracing unauthorized distribution
The ProQure Solution
Working closely with DOJA's security and operations teams, we implemented a comprehensive multi-layered TruePixel authentication solution designed to provide robust protection against counterfeiting while maintaining ease of use for consumers:
- Serialized QR codes for unique product identification: Each product received a unique, serialized QR code that connected to our secure database, making it impossible for counterfeiters to replicate without access to our proprietary system
- Captcha-like brand authentication symbol on packaging: We developed custom visual authentication elements that incorporated DOJA's distinctive branding while serving as additional security markers that were extremely difficult to reproduce accurately
- Real-time scanning and verification system: Our cloud-based platform provided instant verification results, allowing consumers to authenticate products immediately while simultaneously alerting DOJA's team to any suspicious activity
- No app download required for consumer verification: The solution worked seamlessly through any smartphone camera and web browser, reducing friction for consumers while maintaining security integrity
- Advanced analytics and reporting: The system provided detailed insights into scanning patterns, geographic distribution, and potential security threats, enabling proactive responses to counterfeiting attempts

The Result
The TruePixel authentication system proved its effectiveness through the detection and analysis of actual counterfeiting operations, providing DOJA with unprecedented visibility into unauthorized distribution networks. The system successfully identified a sophisticated international counterfeiting operation through compromised QR codes, revealing 6,084 unauthorized scans across multiple countries that exposed the global scope of the threat.
The geographic distribution of unauthorized scans was particularly revealing: United Kingdom led with 4,933 scans indicating a major counterfeiting hub, Germany followed with 810 scans, France recorded 334 scans, and Ireland showed 141 scans, with additional suspicious activity detected across Poland, Belgium, Netherlands, and China.
The system's immediate response capabilities proved invaluable, automatically deactivating compromised QR codes to prevent further misuse, alerting consumers in real-time about counterfeit products to protect their safety, notifying DOJA's security team instantly about threats, and generating actionable intelligence about counterfeiting patterns and distribution networks. This comprehensive data enabled DOJA to work with law enforcement and regulatory agencies to combat the counterfeiting operation while protecting their brand integrity and consumer safety.
